Nothing makes a space feel more like home than artwork. Whether contemporary abstracts by the best new artists, cool graphic prints or your kid’s finest crayon work, art brings a home to life.
When it comes to displaying art, the default is to hammer a nail into the wall. But perhaps you’re not able to put holes in the wall or maybe you just fancy trying something different with styling your space. If so, I’ve rounded-up 3 of the most unique ways to display art that I think you’ll love.
The Floor Lean
This is a favourite interior styling trick. Leaning art on the floor creates a really striking effect when done right. When done wrong, it can just look like you’re in the midst of a DIY project.
It’s all about intention, so where you display the art is really important. The size and scale of the art is less important but definitely worth considering. For example, smaller pieces of artwork look better grouped together, while large over-sized paintings make an impact when displayed alone.
Layered Shelves
Layering art on shelves is another top styling trick. It’s slightly more conventional than the floor lean but no less statement-making. You can use any shelf at any height to make this work but the higher or lower the shelf, the more interesting the look.
Framed artwork can be displayed with collections of houseplants, sculptures and other treasures. This lends the vignette depth and texture and is something to consider when creating your own display.
Portable & Changeable Displays
This is for those who love to frequently update their spaces. Using a DIY trellis-style display or an old vintage ladder allows you to exhibit your art in really unique ways. The flexibility of such a display is also a huge bonus – you can easily move it around or change out the art, giving you a constantly evolving space. This is especially useful for renters!
