The last time I wrote about kid’s rooms was way back in March 2015. I wrote about the joy of designing children’s spaces; the freedom of creativity and imagination. Children’s rooms can be gorgeous havens of magical innovation. And they can be just as fun for adults as they are for children. Here are some examples:
This vintage-inspired bedroom combines “grown up” design features, like the typographic prints, with kid-friendly items. It’s a space that won’t have to be updated in a hurry, taking the child from toddler to teen with just a few simple changes.
A lovely, serene space like this one can be very inviting in a busy house. The built-in bunk beds are extremely well-designed. Most bunk beds are a bit of an eye sore so it’s nice to see them done so stylishly. Neutral tones pair well with a few splashes of colour for another transitional space.
Unexpected features will make any kid’s bedroom magical. I love this magnetic wall which looks great and provides hours of fun for both children and adults. Combining education and play is always a great idea too.
I love this room. The striking wallpaper, used all over the space (including the ceilings) creates a really immersive atmosphere that makes you want to linger. Keeping the furniture and clutter to a minimum prevents the room from becoming claustrophobic.
This colourful nursery is just the thing to keep you going on long nights. It’s a really joyful space, with lots to look at and take in. This is exactly why I love kid’s spaces; they’re small areas for adults to play and experiment with decoration. You can go all out with colour and accessories, whilst keeping the rest of the house paired back and clutter free.
