The Traitors is back on TV for another gripping series.
Apart from being influenced by Claudia’s fabulous wardrobe, I am also inspired by the interiors of the amazing estate in the Scottish Highlands where the game show is set. A bit Scottish, a bit Victorian gothic, a bit posh country, a bit luxury and a bit grandmillennial, this look has it all!
Here are a few interiors inspired buys to give your home a touch of that gorgeous Scottish castle-style aesthetic.
Earthy paint colour
A rich palette of deep earthy hues like emerald green, deep navy, rich reds and plums will give you that warm heritage look.
Benjamin Moore’s Cinnamon Slate embodies the trend toward earthy, natural palettes. It’s between purple and brown and draws inspiration from nature’s most grounding elements — spices, clay, and stone — blending rich warmth with understated elegance.
A touch of tartan
A Scottish castle wouldn’t be complete without a touch of tartan. Scotland’s traditional fabric works perfectly as a soft lambswool blanket with fringing in Stewart Dress Antique Tartan.
A velvet footstool
Velvet is the traditional fabric for that relaxed country style. It’s timeless and elegant and looks wonderful in earthy hues. The Taylor footstool in mustard velvet with traditional feet will give you that heritage look.
A stag head
Not a real one of course but a decorative Stags Head with beautifully ornate gold antlers will be a great talking point in any room.
Gold candlesticks
Any country pile has brass or gold fittings. Chrome is a big no no. A pair of elegant Bingley brass candlesticks inspired by an antique design with a beautifully aged finish will look wonderful on mantlepieces or tabletops.
Dark wood furniture
Dark wood and passed-through-the-family antiques add a sophisticated touch to your home. Get the look with this rich dark oak Winchcombe wardrobe with antique brass handles.
Chunky blankets
A chunky patterned blanket layered on your sofa or bed will give that luxe feel to your room. The chunkier the better! This lovely handmade blanket from the artist Linda Ring is made from natural wood and will last a lifetime.
Heather design cushions
The Scottish emblem looks wonderful on fabrics. Try this Scottish Heather Fabric cushion from By Goju Designs for a contemporary take on the look.
I hope you have enjoyed my selection of pieces to give your home a touch of Scottish country manor-style.
