Summer is often a time when we focus on our gardens rather than our homes, but a few fun summer buys can really make a difference to your home. Here are a few of my favourites this season.
A pretty light
This Pooky lamp, with a drum shade by Tamar Kalif in sage, will add a pop of colour and pattern on a desk or side table. Pooky are a brand to watch and their collaborations are always interesting. They’ve also really led the market in portable lamps, which are so useful!
A wallpapered wall
If you don’t have time to wallpaper a whole room, a feature wall will make a statement in your space. Contrasting, bold colours feature heavily in this illustrated Protea wildflower wallpaper by sustainably-made paper makers Bobbi Beck.
A new coat of paint
Paint is the cheapest way to revamp a room. I love this ‘grubby’ pink colour, Ciao Sofia, from new paint brand, Coat.
Some colourful tiles
These handmade blue patchwork tiles from Bert & May can be used in small and large spaces. The mix of tiles creates a fantastic feature in traditional and modern spaces and the patchwork design makes every floor or wall unique.
A new set of bedding
The quickest way to revamp a bedroom is with a new set of bed linen. Chalk Pink Linen Company have a lovely duvet set in Vintage Rose Pink that is reminiscent of the warm rock tones of Petra. It looks great paired with white sheets for a classic combination.
A colourful kilim rug
These brilliant kilim rugs offer the exact look and feel of traditional woollen flat-woven kilims but with all the benefits of being made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. They come in a gorgeous collection of designs and a range of sizes from small kilim bath mats to extra-large rugs, perfect for bigger rooms.
A sharing platter
A beautiful large serving platter is ideal for placing down the centre of the dining table, piled high with antipasti or freshly baked bread to serve a communal starter. The Artisan Large Serving Platter is made from Portuguese clay for a rustic look.
A String Pocket shelf
Designed by Nisse Strinning in 2005, one String® Pocket shelf consists of two wall-hung panels and three shelves in a variety of colour options from grey and mustard to combinations with shelves in walnut, ash, or oak. You will be able to fit a String® Pocket anywhere. Mount it in your bedroom and use it as your bedside table, place it above a cupboard in your hallway or living room or why not mount it in the kitchen for your cookbooks and spices.
An occasional chair
This Chevron Flat Rattan Occasional Chair from Cox & Cox has a simple chic chevron pattern throughout, a wide base, deep seat and convenient arm rests. Create a pared back, Scandinavian-inspired aesthetic by pairing it with seat pads.
A cute colourful radio
Listen to the sounds of summer on a Roberts Revival Petite – the newest member of the Revival family, which fits retro style and modern sound in the palm of your hand. Switch between DAB/DAB+/FM radio or connect via Bluetooth for simple streaming. I’d have one in every room if I could!
I hope I have given you some ideas for easy summer revamps for your home.
