Five things I love

I have been super busy this year. The run up to Christmas is always the same for everyone in the interior design world.

So, I thought in this post I would share five totally random and unconnected things that have caught my eye recently.  Enjoy…!

Zellige tiles

Claybrook

Zellige tiles are all over Instagram. They are beautiful Moroccan tiles that have been hand-shaped, dried and fired in a traditional olive-pit kiln. What this process does is create beautiful organic tiles which are glossy and light-reflecting and a bit more glamorous than their cousin, the metro tile. The word zellige is Arabic for “tile work” and the tiles are really versatile. You can lay them in lots of different ways and mix colours with whites to stunning effect.

These Fellini Argilla Gloss zellige style wall tiles from Claybrook in this warm terracotta hue, reminiscent of warm Mediterranean climes, vary in pigmentation for a naturalistic look. They are just beautiful!

Recycled glass candle holders

Nkuku

I was in Walcot House in Bath recently at a creative event organised by Divine Savages and I loved the ribbed glass tealight holders they had on every table. These smoke brown Malana recycled glass candle holders from Nkuku are quite similar. The ribbed detail enhances the simple cylindrical shape, making it a super stylish way to light a dining table at Christmas.

Portable table lamp

Nordic Nest

Portable table lamps are such a brilliant invention. You can move them around to where you need light, and they even work outside. If you are after a super stylish, but affordable version this Como portable table lamp from &Tradition is a battery-powered lamp with a robust base that tapers at the top to a mushroom-shaped lampshade. It’s gives off a lovely soft light and I love the stylish shape and red brown colour. The battery lasts about 11 hours at maximum brightness when it’s fully charged.

A super stylish water butt

Hartley Botanic

I hate plastic garden furniture and storage, so I was delighted to see these beautiful water butts from Hartley Botanic. They come in two sizes and lots of gorgeous colours.

This water butts are an elegant and efficient way of collecting rainwater to keep your plants in perfect health. What I loved most is that they have a super stylish stainless-steel tap for easy water access.

A designer draught excluder

Andrew Martin

I am not a fan of sausage dog draught excluders, but they are useful in this cold weather. How lovely to find a lovely version from Andrew Martin, made in his ever-popular Indus Brick fabric. Filled with responsibly sourced wool from British farms they are oversized so will keep your house warm however big your front door is.
