Refurbishment of Georgian Coach House in Bath
We were asked to undertake a full refurbishment of this Georgian coach house in Bath.
Coach houses or carriage houses were outbuildings where wealthy Georgian families stored their horse-drawn carriages and the related tack. Coach houses could even include basic living quarters for the staff who managed the horses and carriages. Horses were occasionally stabled in the carriage house but usually in a separate barn or stable away from the house.
Nowadays, they make wonderful granny flats or guest accommodation for owners of Georgian properties in Bath.
We designed a new layout for this three-bedroom coach house and undertook a complete redesign and decoration of the house to update it. We installed a new kitchen, three new bathrooms, new radiators and Amtico Herringbone Sunbleached flooring. The coach house was decorated in Farrow & Ball’s Off White throughout and furnished with a mixture of the client’s existing furniture and some new pieces.
In the bathrooms, sanitary ware is from Grohe, Duravit, Vado and Crosswater with shower screens from Merlyn and bathroom mirrors from John Lewis.
The fabric in the bedroom curtains is Zahara from Alhambra Fabrics on Silent Gliss tracks and the Roman blinds on the ground floor are in Pronto by Linwood Fabrics.
Lighting was by Pooky and Astro Lighting and the door handles by TBKS Architectural Ironmongery.
